4 Tips For Improving Your Decision Making Process Now!

"Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true." - Bodhi, Point Break

There are times in my life that I wish I'd had the following list in front of me.  There are decisions I've made in the past that I really wish I could take back.  There were actions I should have taken, but I didn't.  Unfortunately, once the trigger has been pulled, there's no way of returning a bullet to the gun.  Life goes on, and you must deal with the consequences.

Here are four actions to take during the decision-making process to help guide you in determining what to do or not to do, and how to go about completing that action.
  • Pause - Slow down!  Most decisions we make don't require an immediate action.  Take some time to analyze all appropriate sides to each opportunity.  Once words are spoken, they can't come back. And once actions are taken, they can't be reversed.
  • Pray - Who knows better what to do than God?  It's not about our will, but about what He wants and expects from us.  The Almighty Counselor wants to help guide us in what's right, but we're still responsible to search out His ways.
  • Ponder - Check around with others you can trust. Seek counsel from those who have been in a similar situation.  There is always someone who can help you or who can offer advice.
  • Pursue - Once you know what the "right thing" is, DO IT!  It might not be easy.  It might be the most difficult action you've ever had to take.  But if it's the right thing to do, you're gonna have to do it.  You don't want Bohdi's quote from above to become a self-fulfilling prophecy, do you?

Proverbs 1:5 - Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser.
